Abstract

Oral cancer is a chronic disease characterized by disorganized cell growth that evolves rapidly and infiltrates. Most of the time, this disease is preventable, its early identification determines a more favorable prognosis for the individual and community health agents (AHC) are professionals who can help in facing this public health problem. The objective of this paper is to report the experience of an extension activity on the training of AHC on the prevention and diagnosis of oral cancer. Due to the pandemic caused by COVID-19, which requires social distancing, the training of AHC was carried out in a virtual format through the Google Meet platform, divided into fortnightly cycles, lasting two hours each. The main results achieved consisted of the active and reflexive participation of community agents, as well as the understanding of their importance for the multiplication of information capable of contributing to the improvement of the quality of life of the community and, thus, reversing the statistics of oral cancer.
