ARAJARA PARK, BARBALHA, CE: UM ESTUDO DA PERCEPÇÃO DOS MORADORES

Abstract

The parks are entertainment and leisure attractions for the local and tourist population. Water parks are linked to activities with a predominance of water resources. These activities provide the individual with social welfare, but the increasing implementation of these parks has been causing environmental problems, such as contamination of springs and human occupation in protected areas. Understanding the perception of the local population is important to identify the main problems faced in everyday life, and what positive and negative impacts occur within the community. For the data survey, 50 residents living in Sítio Farias were interviewed. Impact analysis was qualified from a scale of impact based on Nascimento (2013). From the analysis made, the most intense points were the negative ones, where they are related to environmental aspects and social development, especially in relation to water supply and insect-related diseases. Another negative impact cited by the interviewees was the drought of “levadas” and the generation of bad smell near the Farias stream. Highlighting the need for dialogue between park management and residents.
