Abstract

The pandemic of the new Coronavirus (Sars-Cov-2) presents itself as one of the greatest challenges for humanity, not only due to the impact caused to public health, but also due to the impact on the economy, which in the capitalist market model has repercussions in the form of recession economic, unemployment, and increased social inequality, whose recovery requires more pressure on the natural environment. In view of this scenario, discussions on other forms of development have been increasingly recurrent, see the very concept of sustainable development that is at the heart of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) proposed by the United Nations (UN) with specific goals for the different dimensions of the relationship between society and nature; or even more in-depth and critical discussions about the current economic model, such as the concept of ecosystem-economics, based on experiences of local productive arrangements, which value the knowledge of local culture, the potential of the territory, the democratic participation of the community, solidarity. Thus, the present essay aims to reflect on sustainable development based on the concept of eco-economics and in light of the socio-environmental crisis attenuated by the Sars-Cov-2 pandemic. This is a bibliographic research, in which we sought to investigate in the literature on sustainable development and eco-socioeconomics, theoretical foundations that help in the reflection on possible ways out of the socio-environmental crisis that tends to deepen with the pandemic of the new Coronavirus. As final considerations, a critique of the concept of sustainable development was elaborated, conformed in the sense of develop, individualizing, to maintain the competitive logic of the market economy, and “sustainable involvement” was proposed, formed in the sense of involving , collectivize, to build a new model of economy, based on principles such as ecological responsibility, criticism of exacerbated consumption, commitment to the community, solidarity, and the relationship with the territory, as advocated by ecosocioeconomics.
