Information representation in museums
an analysis of Spectrum, CIDOC/CRM standards and the AACR2 code
Abstract
It discusses the concepts of information and knowledge representation in museology and library science. It discusses the norms and standards that exist in museum documentation and analyzes the way in which museum objects are handled. The following questions are raised in this research to understand how representative processes are made in museums? What specific museum standards work on this? Any similarities between representative processes in museums and libraries? The general objective of this work is to discuss the models of information representation, and the possible relationships between the standards used in library science and those of museology. This research is classified as bibliographic using the content analysis method. Analyzes between the CIDOC / CRM and Spectrum standards and the AACR2 Code show similarities in their description elements which makes the use of the AACR2 code possible for museum representation standards. It is hoped that the results presented in this research may contribute to studies done in documentation in museology in Brazil, understanding the representative processes and helping museums in the development of this activity.
