Informational practices in the field of Information Science studies
contemporary challenges in brazilian research
Abstract
Informational Practices, in the field of Information Science (CI) studies, can, according to Araújo (1998)¹, be understood as actions of reception, generation and transfer of information, generated from different communication circuits within the scope of social formations experienced by informational subjects. In this sense, such practices directly link information to subjects and their life contexts, allowing for focused analyzes based on the relationships between subjects, contexts and information. Such analyzes tend to broaden the understanding of information as a social and relational phenomenon. From this point of view, studies on informational practices developed in Brazil have been characterized as important contributions to IC, in the sense of presenting different social subjects and their roles in the most diverse contexts of reception, generation and transfer of information. This thematic issue brings together studies on informational practices, in view of the various approaches linked to the needs, behaviors, searches and use of information by subjects in different contexts. Therefore, in this dossier entitled “Informational practices in the field of Information Science studies: contemporary challenges in Brazilian research”, we present 16 original and unpublished articles.
