Remote actions of librarians of the UFPI Integrated Library System (SIBi-UFPI) in times of social distance from the COVID-19 pandemic

Abstract

In a time of restrictions and social isolation that deprive us of inloco access to information and communication instruments and informational equipment, it is up to the librarian to re-signify his professional performance and promote actions that allow remote assistance to users. The present study is concerned with the following problem: how are librarians leading their actions in a time of social isolation with the academic community? Among the objectives that guide the research are: to verify the librarian's ability to reinvent himself; to highlight the role of university libraries from the design of new information practices, in which the librarian is positioned as the protagonist of these actions. The methodology used was based on bibliographic, documentary and descriptive research, whose focus was established on the activities developed by the librarians of the Integrated System of Libraries of the Federal University of Piauí (SIBi-UFPI) and their working relationships in adverse situations of action. It is concluded that in a joint effort of all those who make the (SIBi-UFPI), such organizations and professionals have been striving and adapting to correspond to the aspirations of society in the instructional and informational aspect. Through the provision of online services, through the use of collaborative tools, it thus achieves the objectives of the study by contributing in an innovative way to the benefited community regarding the growth of science, research, art and culture in the midst of its specialized public and also in the midst of society as a whole.
