impacts, disposal and environmental education
Abstract
This work describes the actions developed by the extension project named E-waste: IDEA, Electronic Waste: Impacts, Disposal and Environmental Education, which aims to raise awareness among the community, especially young people, about the impacts and proper disposal of electronic waste. The educational approach included didactic presentations through the use of slides, videos, interactive questions, and group dynamics to engage students. The main objective was to inform and raise awareness among participants about the main characteristics of electronic waste and promote sustainable practices. Furthermore, the actions implemented also sought to develop communication and leadership skills in the extension workers involved. As a result, it can be highlighted that the acquired knowledge about the main characteristics of electronic waste, how to identify it, the environmental impacts of inappropriate disposal, and where to correctly dispose of this type of waste in the city of Camocim-CE. The project has already carried out eight interventions in local educational institutions and more than 300 students have already benefited.
