“The happiest day!”
A report of an art therapy workshop in a Psychosocial Care Center
Abstract
It is an experience report about the art therapy workshop held by nursing students. It aims to report the experience of nursing students in the design and execution of the art therapy workshop at the Centro de Atenção Psicossocial - CAPS- (Psychosocial Care Center. It occurred in April 2018 at a CAPS facility in the Zona da Mata Mineira. Intervention planning was previously carried out, aiming to promote autonomy and creativity, in addition to strengthening the student-user bond. The meeting took place with an open and heterogeneous group, formed by the users who attended the CAPS. Users showed interest in drawing and painting images that represented the “happiest day”. For confection, crayons and gouache paints of different colors, sheets of brown paper, writing pencils, and pens were used. The workshop lasted three hours and it was developed with six users, with active participation in the proposal, showing interest and commitment. Some of them had more ease in handling and making, and others had more difficulties, due to changes in mental functions and medication effect, evident in more serious disorders, but all managed to complete the activity with creativity and satisfaction for the work developed. In the conclusion, the realization of this workshop enabled the academics to experience the principles of psychosocial care, promoting critical reflection about new devices of mental health care, especially those of very light technologies in health, developed through the therapeutic relationship of "caring".
