Adolescence and abuse of psychoactive substances
an approach in the context of social isolation
Abstract
This experience report describes the methodologies carried out and the results obtained during the activities of the “Drugs and alcohol: the impacts of psychoactive substance abuse on adolescence” project. Drug use represents a serious public health problem, with an increase in the consumption of alcohol and other drugs reported during social isolation due to the COVID-19 outbreak. In view of our objective of addressing the aspects that may have a relevant influence on the incidence of drug use by adolescents, integrating the community and the family in this identification and planning process, we work in two elementary and high schools in the Cariri region. Our activities were based on three moments of explanation of the theme and debate with the participating students, all carried out by the Google meet platform. During and after this work, the importance of the topic and its discussion was notorious, since there is still a great stigma surrounding it.
