Experience internship
an experience of PET/UFCA Agronomy in the Settlement 10 of April - Crato/CE
Abstract
The approach of Higher Education Institutions to rural communities through the stage of experience prepares students for the reality they will face, thus molding professionals attentive to the needs of society. In this perspective, an experience was carried out between 27 and 29 February 2020, with the farmers of the 10 de Abril settlement, located in the municipality of Crato / CE. It aimed to monitor socio-productive activities and build extension actions. Classroom planning, as well as analysis of the data obtained (collected through semi-structured interviews), were essential for the development of the internship. Through living in the community, one can understand the history of the settlement, whose women became protagonists of the struggles, leaving the past of submission in oblivion. The difficulty in accessing the settlement and technological limitations, bring challenges to the production of agricultural crops, often leading farmers to use conventional methods and the use of chemical fertilizers. The community's production is varied, ranging from medicinal herbs to animal husbandry, in addition to a community garden. Faced with this scenario, universities can contribute and learn, mediating knowledge and practice, society and the academic environment, thus creating a bridge that favors development in a sustainable manner.
