Essential Readings in Human Rights
interdisciplinary in virtual environments
Abstract
The extension project Essential Readings in Human Rights, linked to the Law course at the Regional University of Cariri (URCA), was born in the pandemic context and consists of monthly meetings with researchers and social leaders on topics related to Human and Fundamental Rights through lives on the platform of YouTube videos. Therefore, this research seeks to discuss the difficulties of propagating education in and for Human Rights in the virtual environment. The research aims to delimit the concept of Human Rights and the need to build a culture in and for Human Rights. It also seeks to understand the importance of the interdisciplinary role of Human Rights. Culminating, finally, in understanding the importance of social networks in this construction. For this, the approaches of bibliographical and documental review are used, with the study of articles, dissertations, laws and educational guidelines. The pandemic context brought the need to think of networks and social media as an essential space for the dissemination of knowledge. Thus, the role of the extension project in this context was essential, reaching in about 2 years more than 7 thousand people who gave a little of their time to become aware of plural views about Human Rights. During the period of realization, the project faced several technical difficulties related to the quality of the instruments used for the live and the internet connection, difficulties that were overcome thanks to the teamwork of the volunteer students.
