Health academics experiences in a tutorial education program
reframing learning
Abstract
The Tutorial Education Program (PET) in Health of the Chapéu Mangueira and Babilônia Communities stands out for its approach that integrates research, teaching and extension. Throughout 2022, PET carried out a range of activities. In addition to offering direct assistance to the population, the program promoted educational activities, conducted relevant academic research and offered training to local residents. Additionally, PET actively engaged in social media, expanding its reach and impact. This experience report seeks to provide a detailed overview of all initiatives undertaken during this period. Given the main challenges of this year, the pandemic was a limiting factor for some actions, the group looked for creative ways to overcome this barrier. Particularly noteworthy is the commitment of the academics involved, who not only sought to promote well-being in the communities served, but also improved their own training. By highlighting the importance of these actions for both the academic community and the benefiting public, this report highlights the vital role of PET in promoting health and building a more inclusive and fair society.
