What does journalism want about the past?
Revista História Viva in the sphere of historical publication
Abstract
This article analyzes the relationship between history and the media based on a study of the Revista História Viva, a periodical publication created in 2003 with the intention of circulating among the general public. The intention of the Revista História Viva was to present itself to the market as a media outlet focused on the production and dissemination of history, based on the dissemination of texts based on academic productions. In this sense, the publication used the knowledge produced by professional historians in the format of journalistic texts. Thus, the periodical raises important questions to be debated about knowledge of the world and the past produced outside the academic environment, about Public History and about the relations between history and the media. From a methodological point of view, we sought to analyze the written production of the magazine in order to identify the occurrence of historiographical production of an ethical nature, respecting the theoretical rules of the field of history, since this editorial is not produced only by historians, and the regimes of historicity between these and journalists are distinct. Conclude by presenting the role of the researcher in History, highlighting the democratization of knowledge and how the media multiplies information.
