Dignity in prison
experience report on the performance of the Prison Community Council in Juazeiro do Norte - CE
Abstract
This research is about an experience report of social residence in the Court of Criminal Executions of Juazeiro do Norte-CE with a focus on the performance of the Council of the Prison Community of the municipality, which is a newly installed body by this Department of Court with the purpose of provide assistance to prisoners, ex-convicts and family members from the prison system. In view of the violations that affect the dignity of prisoners, such as overcrowding, unhealthy conditions in prison and lack of assistance, there is an urgent need to know about actions carried out in favor of inmates in the municipality with the installation of the Community Council. Therefore, the objective is to know the actions carried out by that body in order to explore what is done in the defense of the human rights of the prison population under analysis. The research is exploratory in nature, predominantly qualitative and uses data from the Report of the Secretariat of Public Security (2020), legislation such as the Federal Constitution, Penal Code and Criminal Execution Law (LEP), in addition to materials reputable bibliographies by authors such as Goffman (1975) and Capez (2012). Throughout the research, the actions proposed by the Council stand out, as well as the study of the legislation that governs the theme, the monitoring of the demand for criminal executions and a reflection on the importance of integrating other bodies with the Community Council
